Kal Penn Leaving White House for Harold & Kumar Sequel?
It certainly seems that Kal Penn will soon be leaving his White House gig to return to acting. Many of us became quite familiar with Penn, during the 2008 campaign. He spent quite a bit of time campaigning for President Obama in Virginia, which included a stop in Fredericksburg.
In 2009, he put his acting career on hold and accepted a position as the associate director in the White House’s Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, agreeing to serve for at least a year. Many folks were shocked by the sudden departure of Penn from Fox’s hit tv series “House.” I was actually more shocked by the way he was killed off.
With New Line announcing that the third installment of the wildly popular Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle franchise is planned to begin shooting this summer, it would stand to reason that Penn will be leaving his White House post and make his return to acting soon.
The next movie is titled A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas and the studio is rumored to be contemplating shooting it in 3D. A stoner movie in 3D, well that should be interesting!
I guess Kal was bound to have to earn a living again at some point. I’m certainly grateful to his huge sacrifice and all of his hard work in electing President Obama. Here’s to lots of luck in all his future endeavors!
